Naxos is the largest island of all Cyclades and it’s easy to get lost inside all its little towns, let alone its traditional markets. It is famous for its irresistible Mediterranean gastronomy, but that’s far from all. Besides its renowned cheese, honey, olive oil, herbs, sweets & kitron, its own unique distillate, it also offers a wide variety of wonderful art items, marble sculptures, loom-woven textiles, and of course, souvenirs of all kinds.
Itinerary
We’ll start at Naxos Town, where we’ll walk through the Castle and the Old Market for souvenirs. Next, we’ll drive to Damalas for pottery. Then Chalki, the old Venetian capital, where we’ll find the local distillate, loom-woven textiles, art, local herbs, honey & souvenirs. Just a couple of minutes away, we’ll head to Kaloxylos, for extra virgin olive oil. Before we head back, we’ll drive to Apiranthos for aged local cheese, honey, sweets, souvenirs, and we’ll sit at a traditional local tavern for some well-deserved lunch.
